Using Social Media to Leverage Corporate Intelligence and Tacit Knowledge

Dalhousie University's award winning Faculty of Management invites you to attend the Using Social Media to Leverage Corporate Intelligence and Tacit Knowledge seminar. This is the inaugural event in Dalhousie University new Executive Leadership Series for career professionals to acquire latest best practices in management and organization building and also to network with peers in the industry. This event is available at various times in two different formats: a short 2-hr Lunch and Learn session and/or 6-hr, more intensive and in-depth class.

Lunch and Learn - Noon to 2pm

Social media tools provide organizations with new opportunities to share and manage knowledge internally, as well as monitor issues, and participate in global conversations. Recent examples, including the Internet usage-based billing debate, demonstrate the power of the social space, and emphasize that all organizations need a social media strategy. This lunch and learn session will focus on how to manage social media to harness these opportunities. Techniques for using social media internally and externally will be discussed, as well as the need for policies to manage the technological and privacy challenges inherent with these tools.

At the end of this highly interactive course participants will:

  • Understand the role that social media can play in facilitating tacit knowledge sharing and enhancing collaboration
  • Understand how social media can be used external to the organization to monitor issues, and broadcast targeted messages
  • Understand the need to create policies to support the appropriate use of social media
